The history of the Val Grande is rich and ancient. Three centuries ago, this area was a vast lagoon, gently transformed by human intervention into a fishing valley. This delicate balance allowed the flora and fauna to flourish, creating a unique habitat. Today, the Val Grande is recognised as a Special Protection Area and Site of Communitarian Importance, testifying to the commitment to the conservation of its precious ecosystem.
Strolling through Val Grande, visitors can admire reed beds, lakes, and lush forests. The air is filled with the scents of vegetation that combine with that of the sea breeze, while the view is lost among the pink flamingos and herons that congregate near the lakes. Among the vegetation, the remains of a Roman villa emerge, witnesses to a distant past but still alive in the traces of ancient mosaics.

This year, Val Grande opens its doors offering unique and unforgettable experiences. During summer 2024, it will be possible to take part in guided tours organised by Armonia Viaggi that will enrich your seaside holiday, allowing you to explore this corner of paradise.
The guided tours will take you through the most suggestive paths, accompanied by guides who will reveal the secrets of the local fauna and flora, as well as tell you fascinating facts about the history and traditions of the valley.

From Monday, July 8, 2024, Val Grande will be even more accessible thanks to the development of pedestrian and cycle paths that will allow people to explore the valley on their own. These new paths will make it possible to discover hidden corners and breathtaking views, offering ideal viewpoints for birdwatching and admiring the local fauna in its natural habitat. Whether you are a keen hiker, a lover of leisurely walks or an enthusiastic cyclist, you will find trails to suit every level of ability and interest.
Useful Information for Visiting the Valley On Your Own
Val Grande Nature Oasis will be open daily, except Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last entrance at 5:30 p.m.). The entrance to Val Grande and the ticket office are located at Baseleghe Street,2, behind Havana Restaurant. In autumn and winter, the valley remains closed on Tuesdays.
Admission cost is 8 € for adults, 5 € for children up to 12 years old, free for children up to 5 years old. Reservations are NOT required.
There are currently two trails open to the public: the Molinella trail (in 2.5-km and 1.5-km variants) and the archaeological trail that reaches the site of the Roman villa.
The Oasis can be accessed on foot or by bike and with dogs on a leash.
