The pine grove, one of the most luxuriant to be found in Northern Italy, offers a truly remarkable spectacle. Among the fauna inhabiting the pine grove you can find different species of birds, such as the nightingale, the blackbird, the red woodpecker, the osprey, the common tern, the kingfisher and the great tit. A lot of mammals can also be spotted, such as the squirrel, the fallow deer, the hedgehog and the weasel, not to mention the many reptiles you can find on your path, the rarest of which are Hermann’s tortoise and the agile frogs.
In the underbrush you will find orchids, heathers, bluebells, hawthorns and butcher’s brooms, aside trees such as the Austrian black pine and the ilex.
This multi-faceted ecosystem is due to the peculiar type of environment, hosting and integrating several different habitats: the forest, the river, the beach, the dunes, the pine grove and the moister habitats.
